Targeting Sox18 delays breast cancer in mice
Jeroen Overman, Frank Fontaine, Emmanuelle Lesieur and Mat Francois from the UQ CCVB Transcriptional Regulation of Vessels Laboratory and their collaborators have discovered that breast cancer in a mouse model can be delayed by pharmacological targeting of the SOX18 transcription factor.

Mat Francois awarded NHMRC Career Development Fellowship
Congratulations to Dr Mat Francois who has just been awarded a Career Development Fellowship from the National Health and Medical Research Council. The funding will allow Mat and his team of researchers to understand the molecular and cellular dysregulations that underpin vascular disorders.

Mat Francois awarded Cancer Council Project Grant
We are pleased to announce that Dr Mat Francois has been awarded a Research Project Grant from Cancer Council Queensland. The funding totalling $200,000 over two years, will allow Mat and his team to investigate how blood vessel formation and growth is genetically regulated.

CCVB researchers awarded more than $2.8 million in NHMRC funding
We are pleased to announce the results of the 2015 National Health and Medical Research Council funding round for researchers at the Centre for Cardiac & Vascular Biology. This new funding will facilitate research into cardiovascular development, disease and regenerative medicine.
Our researchers received $2,847,447 in funding for 5 new awards, including 4 Project Grants to Justin Cooper-White, Enzo Porrello, Kelly Smith, Ben Hogan and Mathias Francois and a Career Development Fellowship to Enzo Porrello.
